The building that housed the Nyack River Club will be demolished as it has seen better days. Don Hammond Mayor of Nyack said that the building isn’t in danger of falling down, but it makes more sense to tear it down and rebuild. Utilities are disconnected and Nyack will begin seeking proposals later this month for the property’s redevelopment. The River Club was an institution for three decades, but several storms including Hurricane Sandy inflicted so much damage the rebuild is a necessity . Recently the restaurant chain Bartaco who had been negotiating to take over the space realized the investment to get the building up to code would be prohibitive and pulled out. We will continue to watch the progress of the restaurant on the Hudson and keep you informed.
